2 Killed In Greenport Crash Involving Hampton Jitney Bus

Two people are dead after a motorcycle collided with a charter bus during the evening commute on Long Island.

Emergency crews in Greenport were called shortly before 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, with reports of a crash at the intersection of State Route 25 and Moores Lane.

According to Southold Town Police, a Hampton Jitney bus was pulling out of Moores Lane when it crossed into the path of the motorcycle.

The motorcycle driver, 62-year-old Anthony Gallo, was taken to Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Gallo’s passenger, 74-year-old Lorraine Haeg, of Southold, was initially taken to the same hospital and was later transferred to Stony Brook University Hospital, where she died from her injuries, police said.

The 52-year-old bus driver was hospitalized for minor injuries and has since been released.

The crash is under investigation by the Southold Town Police Department and the New York State Police.
